saturday’s libra full moon is the first lunation in libra that is NOT an eclipse since April 2023, but you honestly may not be able to tell the difference energy. yes, we have an multi year eclipse season ending for the aries / libra axis. but with the recent move of neptune into the sign of the ram (and saturn close behind) it feels a lot more like the beginning of something new and wild, a call to (perhaps unwelcome) adventure and most importantly, a revelation of something real.

venus + saturn are the rulers of libra and they just so happen to be conjunct in pisces, along with the north node and mercury. venus + saturn meet in conjunction annually, generally no longer than a day long transit, but NOW, venus happens to be ending her 45 day retrograde (the day after the full moon) stationed directly on saturn. they have been tangled like this, with the north node, since the beginning of april and they won’t be unwound until APRIL TWENTY SEVENTH when venus finally passes both saturn AND rahu, heading straight for aries.

mars and the sun are the rulers of aries. as we know, the sun is currently in aries (conjunct chiron this is imporant) and squaring co-ruler mars in cancer completing a tsquare with the moon in libra who is ruling…mars. the square between mars and the sun doesn’t perfect until 4/21 and when it does- it will be in perfect tsquare to pluto, an explosive + volatile transit by any definition. oh, and moon will be conjunct pluto at the same time, transmitting all of the pressure + tension straight to the mortal realm (us), you know, as a treat. and honestly that tension builds all the way into the taurus new moon on 4/27. mars in leo will have just separated from the pluto opposition and venus will have just separated from rahu and saturn.

i saw quite a few posts here and there from people BEGGING someone to discuss this moon without bringing up relationships or people pleasing, two of the most cliche symbols Libra has come to be known for. I am happy to oblige because to be completely honest, i don’t think this moon has much to do with relationships at all. relating? yes. but not just relating to people, to the world, to life itself. whatever deep, trasnformative shift began in your life when the nodes moved in aries/libra (april, 2023) makes itself known now. it’s time to meet the world with your new + refined…self? all 3 inner planets (mars, venus, mercury), the ones that represent our innermost drives and tendencies, have completed retrogrades. things have changed, we have changed, and this moon is about to show us just how much. but first: the many moving pieces…

venus + saturn, the sky's most unlikely lovers:

this might be the most fascinating pairing in the sky right now, the venus principle (relating, connecting, value, beauty, love, and cohesion) and the saturn principle (endurance, judgement, authority, discipline, struggle, form, correction), the two scales of libra, joined together in the sky as venus ends her 45 day retrograde FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS STRAIGHT.

on it’s own, the venus retrograde is one of the most mythologically significant transits we have. venus rx is the archetype of the Descent, the cyclical withdrawals into Hermitude, the solo journeys thru the spiritual wilderness that all souls must face in the journey to a fully individuated self.

if we were map the stages of a venus retrograde against The Descent mythos…

• the initial retrograde would be the powerful event that overwhelms our current ‘venus principle’…disrupting + destabilizing matters of love, value, beauty, and principle.

• the actual inner transformation of values occurs around the cazimi (the halfway point of the retrograde)

• with venus using the second half of the retrograde to climb out of the hell realm of the sun, unaware of exactly what has changed, just knowing something has.

and venus direct is when all those internal changes start to manifest in your visible, external reality…now is when you get to meet your newly purified venus and see what she wants and who she is. who you are now.

venus is ruling the full moon from exaltation and has the upper hand here and therefore saturn’s support in codifying her new principles and purpose, crystallizing new ideals into something deeper, more soulful, and tremendously enduring. this is a good thing, because they are both ruling this full moon from aversion, meaning, it’s their combined agenda and energies being served but they really don’t have any ability to affect the outcome of the moon from where they are. that privilege belongs to mars + the sun (CONJUNCT CHIRON NEVER FORGET) the solar rulers of the full moon and the only ones making direct contact.

i’ll be honest, the sun-chiron conjunction in aries adds a lotttt of complexity to this full moon. because it's not just about balance and equilibrium, but the wounded warrior (we all have one) who must stand in the arena (life), scars visible, before any true dialogue can begin. chiron and the sun = a burning spotlight on those core wounds we all carry; with special emphasis on any tender places where we were once struck down for daring to openly exist as ourselves. now it becomes clear how elaborate emotional defenses to defend again future, imaginary pain can become invisible prisons. the castle walls built for protection now keeping out the very connection we all seek.

the t-square from mars to the full moon is a loud reminder that no scales can balance if either side carries the hidden weight of unacknowledged pain. and what is the hero/heroine's journey if not a willful walking toward the wound? no one returns from an underworld journey unscathed and mars has just completed his own grueling retrograde in cancer. so mars’ rulership over the sun-chiron conjunction is a clarion call for emotional skill + care in supporting the warrior (mars) as it learns to protect what truly matters (venus) rather than defending against imagined threats (pluto being pluto and moon gone wild).

and the hero’s journey mars is about to embark on is truly the stuff of legends. like i said, this doesn’t end with the full moon.

mars and pluto, they meet again:

one very important thing to remember about the upcoming mars/pluto opposition (and a tsquare from the lovely taurus sun) is that we’ve been here before. this is our third and final opposition between them. the first round was 11/1/24 between mars + pluto at the 29th degrees of cancer and capricorn, respectively, squared by a new moon in scorpio. this was the lead up into the US presidential election on 11/5/24. very calm + demure times as I’m sure you remember.

the second meeting between mars and pluto came 1/1/25 - 1/3/25 with mars rx at 1 degree leo opposing a newly ingressed pluto in aquarius at 1 degree aquarius. their third and final opposition (for this round at least) is in play from april 18th when mars first enters leo to april 26th when mars finally completes the opposition to pluto at 3 deg aquarius. arguably the most tense moment here is april 20th when the sun in taurus meets them in tsquare. this is a fixed sign t-square, mind you, so a power struggle between three heavy, immovable celestial forces.

pluto in aquarius = collective power structures and systemic transformation happening at a societal level. the sun in taurus = embodiment of core values, resources, and what we're determined to preserve. mars in leo = the channeling of assertive energy through personal will, creative expression, and ego-driven action.

this is tremendous tension. with each planet living in a fixed sign, no one is willing to yield or compromise (not so libran now, ARE YOU). mars in leo is amplifying the confrontational theatrics as it opposes pluto and the sun in taurus is squaring both, signaling an obvious pressure point around material security. hidden power dynamics forced into the light, scores settled, business stood on…it’s an intense time and if you have placements in the early degrees of any of the fixed signs, you may find yourself on that battlefield.

if you do, remember the resolution path runs through a taurean current—grounded presence, embodied wisdom, and standing strong in your new, refined values around what sustains, supports, and nourishes your realm. what you love, what you value, what you cherish and what you give life to is worth whatever effort may be required in its protection now (if it comes to that).
